Following the procedure, I fell in and out of sleep in the recovery room with Amber keeping watch.
While the overall experience was less than enjoyable, I wouldn't be afraid to do it again. I had no use for the pain pills the hospital supplied me with. Other than a kidney biopsy when I was seven, I had no experience with surgery.
The one drawback to this procedure was that it brought to light what was going to happen when I received my new kidney. I began to get nervous.
