Photo by Amber Hunt Amelia's fourth-grade class at Columbus School for Girls was thoroughly entertained by my tales of dialysis and hospital stays. They were most interested in the pain aspect of the process. I tried to explain that the minimal pain involved was a small price to pay for the reward of having a new kidney and a higher quality of life.
